Another Inconvenient Truth - The Ironies of Ignatius

The Great Ironies of Ignatius

1. We are trying to deviate from the norm, but we’re actually trying to be in it, joining in the regular section bandwagon for some reasons I do not know.
2. The “leaders” say that the comedic way is a surefire winner and the serious way is “cliché”, but what did they do in last year’s Filipino madulang pagbasa? They actually used the “cliché” way and won hands down.
3. We want to act normal in the SB and be ourselves, but we are actually trying to become what we are not.
4. The “leaders” need suggestions and want the SB as a perfect mix of everyone’s ideas, but what happened? The concepts dominant (or even the only ones present) here are Pao’s and Degu’s (no offense, but it’s the truth).
5. The original “Core Group” is playing second fiddle, passive and submissive while a new “Core Group” became the prevailing body in the SB. WTF?
6. Thinking out of the box? The approach may be different but the general idea is the same: Make a party out of the performance.
7. Many students in Ignatius listen to the popular kids but are absent-minded whenever the “uncool” people are explaining something (that includes me).
8. A lot of people in Ignatius accept the “fun but dreadfully wrong” approaches and dismiss “boring but substantial” ones.
9. These “leaders” think that the ones opposing them are “unappreciative and close-minded”, but they are actually the ones: They promise to accept suggestions and make necessary changes given by the teacher (Mrs. Lumanog said that the whole concept of a game show is shallow) but rarely or never actually upholded that promise.
10. “They” say that the original concept is now updated and is free of storyline issues. Well, the update just made the whole thing worse. It is now ridden with more plot holes than Swiss cheese.
11. The class strives for perfection and unity… but what are we exactly doing in practices? PSP, iPod, loafing around and not exactly doing what our instructors tell us to do. What a high level of enthusiasm and discipline. I may be doing it a lot of times but at least I still had the spirit to join in all practices and do what is required switftly even if it means missing out precious time in schoolwork and rest.

Here is my quote from this whole thing:
“If Ignatius were a book and studied under the norms of formalism, it would be the best book ever.”

Oppose me for all I care. Mock and ignore me for the rest of this darned year if you want. If this SB is a success, then it’s good. I concede the fight. Good for us that the judges chose the lesser of the five evils (namely the sections of Francis, Pio, Ignatius, Bernard, and Bernardine). But if it’s a flop, don’t blame me for that. I tried to fix it, but you never gave me the chance. Besides, I am seriously outnumbered and outgunned; it’s pretty futile to change your odd minds. It’s good luck or good bye for all of us anyway. Bye-bye honor list. Nice meeting you for 3 years.

An Inconvenient Truth - Criticism

To further elaborate on my previous post (in which I got really angry and frustrated while inputting it), I will give you more insights about commenting people's beliefs. I feel uncomfortable with people who brag too much and underestimate their "rival's" convictions. It's like when they stand for someone or something, they shout at the top of their voice proclaiming that theirs is the best and all others are just nothing. They underestimate the potential of the lower class of things and people which are almost always not given the chance to speak for themselves.

Some good examples why I am saying this:

1. The usual comment: "Linux is the stupidest OS that I have ever seen. This sucker is for cheapskates."
The rare comment: "I personally don't like the interface of Linux, but it it's not all that bad."

2. The usual comment:"Motorola is crap. It's just a junk phone full of nothing but garbage and should be stepped on. NOKIA OWNZZZZ!!!"
The rare comment: "For me, Motorola is an overall good phone, but I will still prefer Nokia."

3. The usual comment: "UP is the worst university in the Philippines. It's littered with crime and violence all over. ATENEO FOREVER! ATENEO!!!!"
The rare comment: "I agree that UP is a top-class Phil. university, but for me, Ateneo is still
better."

Sounds shocking? No, these comments are true and are all-present everywhere in the globe! These "usual" comments may make the people who wrote such to feel better, but what about the people you have commented? Yes, you would feel a hell lot better when you're a Windows junkie, a Nokia fanboy, or an Atenista. But would these comments hurt your feelings if you're the Linux user, Motorola lover, or the UP student?

I'm just trying to tell everyone that giving comments about topics is a-ok. These can even help others to change their views positively. But if these comments actually start a war of words and become friendship destroyers, please stop them. I'd rather shut my mouth and keep my ideas to myself than offending the person's feelings and make them feel bad. I do not want others to feel down, so I always cheer them up with words of wisdom and constructive criticism. So that's why I personally hate people who assault others verbally because doing such acts is a bad thing, right? Hating is bad too; I am apologizing to be like that way, but that's the way I am.

One advice to all those aggressive critics who care about self-satisfaction and not about developing others: Before saying anything offending against others, put yourselves in their shoes first. Will you feel bad when you are given the same destructive comment that you will do to them? Will your comments actually help the person you are criticizing or will they actually kill his/her spirit and personality?

Think about it comrades. Commander out.

Disappointed and Grossed Out

Today, people are rarely respective of other's opinions, I don't know why. Whenever I see something wrong with the person, I rarely laugh and criticize destructively. But all the others? No. I tend to shut up when people comment, but when they HAVE GONE TOO FAR, they better be on guard. I personally don't like rude, disrespectful and pushy people; I may even give them a taste of their own medicine. Harboring hatred on others is bad, I know; I just can't stand those kinds of people. I am sorry if I may have to do something drastic to them.

I am very disappointed to the people of this generation today, very insulting indeed. Today I will express my regrets for insulting others too. I promise that I will not dare criticize anyone now. But remember: If someone will eventually flame or criticize me destructively, better watch your back. "Basta, ayaw ko sa mga tao na nang-iinsulto at nagsasabi ng walang katuturan."

Five Reasons Why Motorola Isn't a Bad Phone Brand After All

5. It's a Hell Cheaper - Most Motorola phones are cheaper yet are as reliable as other phone brands. They also depreciate quickly, once the V6 Maxx was PhP21,000, then it got to Php 13,000 in just 3 weeks. Cool.

4. Design - Most of you don't know that many of Nokia, Sony Ericsson and other phone brands copied some of Motorola's designs, like the laser-etched keypad of the RAZR V3. The V3's overall design was even incorporated to the N72, the NSeries fashion phone. Sorry guys, but this is the truth. Motorola thinks of its own designs, so that's why they are the most fashionable of all brands.

3. Mod-ability and Simplicity - Believe it or not, all Motorola phones are easily modified. Even 5 year olds can create "skins" or themes of their phones. Why? Almost all Moto phones are so simple in their interface, the system files can be tinkered and improved drastically. I personally am one of the MotoModders. I added new themes, made the volume higher, and improved my camera quality easily; learning to mod is easy as 1-2-3.

2. Market Strategy - Motorola is a leader in marketing its phones, encouraging multiple artists such as the Black Eyed Peas to endorse their products. Many of the Moto advertisements are catchy and focus on style and finesse to win customers worldwide. It also lets people decide on what to buy through live tutorials and product demonstrations.

1. Pioneering Technology - The best of all reasons: Motorola pioneered many of the technologies and products we all usually don't even care who invented it. It made the first mobile phone call, first practical cellphone, first walkie-talkie in the world, among various others. Also, Motorola is not only making phones, it is also focusing in the defense industry, electronics, microprocessing, and cellular infrastructure equipment. Practically, WITHOUT MOTOROLA, THE MOBILE PHONE INDUSTRY WILL NEVER EXIST. Period.

Motorola and Kodak WILL KICK A** 2008

Moto and Kody joined forces to beat their competitors in the mobile phone and camera market. They got too sick and tired of being fourth place. Let's see:

Fergal Donovan, marketing director of Motorola, presented the newly leaked devices with allure: "The Motorola Skarven will become the new flagship of Motorola. Eight megapixel cameras and optical zoom will be the main points of Motorola in 2008. The Motorola Skarven will be a kick-slider, just as the Motorola RIZR Z8", so says Fergal Donovan. Funny at the presentation was the codename of the Motorola Texel, when questioning this device with Fergal Donovan, he told us the following: "The Motorola Texel is not a name that is chosen regarding our visit to Amsterdam. It is more related to the 'Morph technology' that the device is equipped with."

Motorola Skarven
The Motorola Skarven could be Motorola's extremely feared multimedia monster. As we can see from the photos of the presentation is that the device will offer an immensely large display at which high-quality photos and videos can be viewed. It could be that the eight megapixel camera, which Fergal Donovan of Motorola's marketing section mentioned as main point for the future, will be integrated into the Motorola Skarven. The Motorola Skarven will be placed in the newly presented "Zoom" section. This new Motorola Flagship could become a good competitor of other megapixel phones. The display will offer 16 millioen colours and will probably be a touchscreen.

Motorola X Pixl
The Motorola X Pixl will also be placed in the "Zoom" series. This candybar device will be made for the middle section of the market and it will offer a 5 megapixel camera, which will be produced by Kodak. The cooperation between Motorola and Kodak became clear in May this year and the American manufacturer cofirmed the cooperation again this week.

Motorola Texel
The Motorola Texel will be a real music phone and due to this it will be placed in the "ROKR" section. The Motorola Texel will be equippe with the same "Morpt technology" as the recently announced Motorola ROKR E8, at which nine layers of numbers, letters and symbols are placed on top of each other and can change functions due to this technology. The Motorola Texel has touch-sensitive keys and will be equipped with a 3.5 mm headset jack with which the owner can use his own headset in order to enjoy music.

Motorola Genghis
For the "Multi Q / Ming" series, Motorola showed her Genghis candybar this week. The Genghis will not focus on the real businessman but more on the messaging addict that wants to type long and quick messages. The Motorola Genghis is characterized by design and colour usage. The appearance of the candybar is quite modern, as is the colour usage. The Motorola Genghis will probably come to the market in several colours, as we have seen earlier with other devices.

It is clear that Motorola is busy designing new devices. The quarter of new devices will probably be launched at different moments in 2008 and they will reach the shops at the second quarter of 2008.

So, what do you say? Post your comments on the CBox comrades and have a nice day. Commander out.
